Simone Biles Bio
Simone Arianne Biles is an 18-year-old American artistic gymnast. Biles is the three-time World all-around champion (2013-15), three-time United States national all-around champion (2013-15), three-time world floor champion (2013-15) , two-time world balance beam champion (2014, 2015), and a member of the gold-medal winning American team at the 2014 and the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Biles was born in Columbus, Ohio and moved with her family to Houston at age 3. at the age of six, she visited a gym with her class on a day care field trip where she caught the eye of coach Aimee Boorman. Boorman, ten years later, is still Biles’ coach.

Biles was named the Team USA Female Olympic Athlete of the Year beting the likes of Serena Williams and Katie Ledecky.
Biles was unable to attend the Team USA Awards award ceremony because she was at the U.S. National Team camp.
1. First African-American to Be World All-Around Champion
Simone Biles is already one of the most decorated women in gymnastics history. Biles trains hard and spends 32 hours a week in her gym, the World Champion Center in Houston.
Her total of 14 ties her for third all-time and ranks her first among American gymnasts, male or female.
2. Biles Holds The Record for Most Gold Medals Won by a Female Gymnast
Earlier this fall, she became the first woman to win three consecutive world championships. Her four golds there in back-to-back years is also a record. Her golds makes her ever won by any female gymnast in the history of the world championships.

3. Biles Spent All Her Secondary Education as a Homeschooler
Simone Biles was adopted by her grandparents as Simone’s mother was unable to care for her and her siblings. As a result Biles and her sister Adria, who is also a gymnast were adopted. She has two brothers named Ronald and Adam. Biles graduated from high school in the summer of 2015. She spent all her secondary education as a homeschooler.
Biles regularly takes four hours homeschooling at the gym in the morning with her sister and her coach’s daughter, and then training all afternoon, adding up to 30-plus training hours a week.
4. Her Sister Adria is Also a Gymnast
Simone’s sister Adria is also a gymnast. Simone narrates in her upcoming documentary, “Golden Girl” about her relationship with Adria. She says: “I remember being like a mom to my sister Adria.” Simone and Adria often train together.

Biles incorporated a complex flip move into her floor routine during the 2013 World Championships which is even named after her as “Simone Biles Floor”.

6. Biles Wants to Become A Nurse After Retirement
She is a big admirer of her mom’s profession: being a Nurse and wants to become one day like her. According to Biles’ coach, Aimee Boorman, most female gymnasts peak at 17 and diminish by 20.
Biles said,“I think of how many hours I’ve sacrificed and how many times I’ve cried in the gym, and I think I would be way too easy on my students. I’d be like, ‘Yeah, go home.’”
